Eat Maine Foods!

i'm curious as to which farms are open to volunteers or time traders? i'm in south portland, and would love to help out and learn a few things. i only have a day or so a week i could put in, but definitely for the extent of the season. i know a bunch of people who'd be interested as well...

Hi Jenna, I'm not sure what sort of farming you are interested in or how much you want to travel, but we are a new, small farm in our first year of operation in south brunswick, and we would love volunteers, time traders, what-have-you. We raise pastured pork and eggs, organic pastured chicken, turkey, and duck, organic cut flowers, and organic heirloom tomatoes. We operate on leased land just outside of town, and sell at the Brunswick farmers market, to local restaurants, and through our meat and flower CSA. We are also fairly new to Maine, young, and excited to meet local folks with an interest in food and farming. Let me know if you might be interested. Brenna Chase, Little Creek Farm

Jenna - I don't think they're certified organic, but if you want something quite local to South Portland (could even bicycle), you can talk to Penny Jordan or Carol Ann Jordan at Jordan's Farm in Cape Elizabeth. They're really great people and can let you know if there are any options over there.

Jenna, We welcome volunteers on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Just let us know in advance if you are planning to come out to help.
