Eat Maine Foods!

I am interested in being able to buy staples such rice, beans, etc. in bulk through the co-op. Is this available in addition to local organic meats, milk and vegetables?

Hi Kay, If you are in Portland, look into the Portland Food Co-op. Their FoodNow buying club orders everything you mentioned with the exception of milk (lots of good cheese though!). http://www.portlandfoodcoop.org/
Thanks Alison! I was hoping that would be the case. I will check in with them.
thanks again...
I have begun a Food Buyer's club in Winthrop through Associated Buyers, one of the principle suppliers for health food stores in the Northeast. http://www.assocbuyers.com/

I suggest you go to the Ordering tab and read "What is a Buying Club?" There is a minimum order total of $350, but with a bit of organization and a few friends or neighbors committed to buying whole foods, you can get great stuff for significantly less cost.
Thanks so much for the information. That sounds great. I will check it out.
