Maine Corn
I want to grow corn for the first time. I live in Bangor with very acidic clay soil. What seed would people recommend? Can I find a seed that is similar to the maize that Native Americans once grew?

Check out Fedco's seeds, they have a couple varieties that are heirloom 'field' or dent corns suitable for grinding for meal, posole, ect- not sweet corn. I think the names are "Blue Mountain", and " Calais Flint" I grew the Blue Mountain a couple years back, and it produced short sturdy stalks that made early maturing ears of beautiful purple, blue, and red kernels. I dried them to grind my own meal, although a skunk(i think) did beat me to harvesting a few of the ears.
