Eat Maine Foods!

I am currently living in Fairfield and was looking to find a local source for raw butter perferably from Jersey cows. Everything that is carried @ our local health food store is pasturized. We even have Barrels Community market which carries all local Maine goods but does carry any raw butter. Can anyone help and point me in the right direction to find dome raw butter?

I get all my butter from Nezinscot Farm... it's raw, not sure what breed of cows it is from but if your local food store gets anything from Crown of Maine Co-Op, which I would assume they do...then they would be able to order it for you. I know there is no case amount you can just buy a couple. Otherwise it's a tuff state for people without cows to get raw local butter as well as cream.

You can by Dickson's (Brooks, ME) cultured butter made from raw Jersey cream at the Belfast Coop. You can also look for cows! I have access to raw Jersey milk for $2 a gallon and churn my own from time to time. That opens up the possibility for 3 choices... butter from clabbered cream, cultured cream, or sweet cream.
In the next few weeks, I'll be posting home churned recipes on my blog at gimmerealfood.blogspot.com
