Winter Farmers' Markets
Portland's winter farmers' market started yesterday, with lines of people eagerly awaiting their local eats. This market is based on email orders, which are delivered every other week. Bath does a more traditional market through the winter, and I hear other towns are getting into the winter farmers' market act. Here's what I know about these two markets (from http://themaineswitch.com/story/view/2201/). What's going on in your area?

Sumner Valley Farm
Will offer eggs, pastured poultry, pork and beef.

The Bath Farmers’ Market moves to the Bath United Church of Christ for the winter months. It runs from Nov. 1 through April on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 9 am-noon. Farmers sell veggies, meat, cheese, bread and yarn. FMI visit www.bathfarmersmarket.com.

There is also a Winter Farmers Market in Brunswick every Saturday (except 12/27). On January 3 it will move to Fort Andross from Granite Farm.

According to an article in the Times Record, the market at Fort Andross is in addition to the one at Granite Farm. Can anyone in that area confirm if they are both indeed happening every week?

As of January 10th, most vendors have left Granite Farm to join the market at Fort Andross.

In Camden there are two. One that meets inside the Knox Mill on Saturday mornings and another that meets in the State of Maine Cheese company building on Route 1. I wish I knew more details about the vendors and times/dates. I have shares in a winter CSA here, so don't often get to the Farmer's Markets.

I just learned that Gardiner has a winter farmers' market too. According to a story in the Kennebec Journal (http://kennebecjournal.mainetoday.com/news/local/5746049.html), the market happens on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 2-6 pm at the Gardiner Congregational Church.
