The Local Farms, Food and Jobs Act – Let’s get Maine’s Senators on Board!

Maine Rural Partners requests that members of the Eat Local Foods Coalition help support the passage of the Local Farms, Food and Jobs Act (S.1773, H.R. 3286).  Senators Snowe and Collins have not yet signed onto the bill.  We are asking ELFC members to contact Senators Snowe and Collins to co-sponsor Sen. Sherrod Brown’s bill (S. 1773).  Maine’s own Rep. Chellie Pingree is the original sponsor of the bill in the House (H.R. 3286) and Rep. Mike Michaud has signed on as a co-sponsor.  This…See More

I grew up on a small blueberry farm in north Waldoboro, Maine, studied Politics at Bates College, and I'm now serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer with the Maine Rural Partners in Orono working on a rural health advocacy project. I'm passionate about the relationship between local food, health, and sense of community.
