Kickstart Maine local food projects!
Kickstarter is a great way to support local food projects. There are at least three Maine farms and food businesses trying to raise funds on kickstarter.com now:
Somerset Grist Mill is a start-up milling company that will mill Maine grown wheat, corn, oats, rye and heritage grains. Located in the heart of downtown Skowhegan in the old county jail, it has become a hub of food activity –home to the farmer’s market; a multifarm CSA, called the Pickup, and more. Thanks to Linzee and the 200+ who helped us meet our Kickstarter goal. Now we are in the final stages of getting the Freight Shed ready for the winter farmers market opening on Nov.3rd! You can find us (under our new roof) most Saturdays paint brushes and hammers in hand - stop in join us we'd be happy to show you around. Saw Christa Bahner this summer in their great farm stand and we read about Somerset Grist Mill's super progress!
