Eat Maine Foods!

Being a small business owner is no doubt a tough thing to do. You tend to hear of people owning their own businesses because they want "freedom" or to "be at home with the kids". For me, sure, I wanted freedom from a corporate lifestyle I had grown sick of. But... freedom in the sense that I can do whatever I want with my time is far, far from how I live my life as a small business owner. It's a 16 hour a day gig for me.

I'd been working to have Associated Buyers in New Hampshire carry Barkwheats for many months, and am proud to say that they've just announced they will be carrying Barkwheats to offer to their thousands of buyers across the northeastern US. This is very, very exciting for us!! Associated Buyers is a team of super dedicated, super nice folks who I'd been buying from since we started Barkwheats and am overcome with joy to be working with them.

We've got some other big things lined up, too. You know us, we can't just rest! we'll be featured in Animal Wellness Magazine in a story they're doing on the greening of the pet industry, we *should* be in a story in Doggie Aficionado along similar lines as the AWM story, and we'll be in Organic Products Retailer magazine which should be coming out in a few weeks.

Hard work certainly does pay off. I was reading a post by a fellow pet industry person and they had said the way to make it through this tough economic time is to be the last one standing. Work smart and you can be.
